The PCA Permanent Committee of Mission to North America has elected Teaching Elder Irwyn Ince as the MNA Coordinator Pro Tempore. Dr. Ince will begin serving September 1, 2021, pending full approval of his call as MNA Coordinator, to be recommended to the 49th General Assembly in 2022. God has uniquely gifted, prepared and called Irwyn for this vital role within our beloved denomination and Christ’s Church. Please join us in praying for Irwyn, the many wonderful men and women he will lead within MNA, and the flourishing of the PCA so that the Gospel will go forth into North America for the glory of Christ and fame of his name!
Dr. Ince currently serves with Grace DC Presbyterian Church as Director of the Institute for Cross-Cultural Mission (ICCM). He is a graduate of City College of NY (Electrical Engineering, 1995), Reformed Theological Seminary (Master of Arts, Religion, 2006), and Covenant Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry, 2016). In January 2006, after an eleven-year career with Motorola as a systems engineer and project engineering manager, he began pastoral ministry at Mount Zion Covenant Church in Bowie, MD. In January 2007 Mount Zion merged with New Town Church in Columbia to plant City of Hope Presbyterian Church, where he served as Senior Pastor from 2007-2017.
He and his wife, Kim, have been married 29 years, and have four grown children. In addition to his passion for his family and for ministry, he is passionate about coffee and kettlebells. He is the author of The Beautiful Community: Unity, Diversity and the Church at Its Best, published in 2020 with InterVarsity Press. He has also contributed to the books Heal Us Emmanuel: A Call for Racial Reconciliation, Representation, and Unity in the Church, and All Are Welcome: Toward a Multi-Everything Church. God has blessed the PCA already through the leadership of Dr. Ince as a member of the MNA Permanent Committee (2014-2019); The PCA Unity Fund Committee (2016-2020); and as Moderator of the 46th General Assembly (2018-2019).
“It has been my joy and privilege to serve the Lord in the PCA since 2001. Whether as pastoral intern, church planter, pastor, or moderator, my desire has been to serve our Lord with gladness and faithfulness. Now, in his kindness, he is giving me the honor of serving our church as MNA Coordinator Pro Tempore. I look forward to leading MNA as we come alongside our presbyteries and churches for kingdom mission and beauty in North America. May the Lord be pleased to multiply our witness and vitality in the current age for his glory and the good of our neighbors!”
“I am excited about Irwyn’s call to be the next MNA Coordinator, and I look forward to all that God will do through his leadership in the years to come. As I have experienced during this interim, I know Irwyn can look forward to great blessings in working alongside the many godly men and women who serve Christ through MNA Ministries.” MNA Interim Coordinator Ruling Elder Brent Andersen.
The MNA Committee gives praise to the Lord for his provision of interim leadership, along with thanks to Ruling Elder Andersen, for his service as Interim MNA Coordinator since January 1, 2021, when former MNA Coordinator Teaching Elder Paul Hahn accepted the call to serve as Interim Pastor (Stated Supply) with Pacific Crossroads Church (PCA) in Los Angeles CA. Teaching Elder Hahn began serving as MNA Coordinator with the 44th PCA General Assembly in 2016.
Teaching Elder Thurman Williams concluded his term as MNA Permanent Committee Chairman with the 48th General Assembly in June. He served as Chairman of the MNA Coordinator Search Committee:
“We give thanks to God for His leading us through the entire search process to His choice for our next MNA Coordinator. The LORD faithfully guided us, first of all, in selecting Brent Andersen to serve as our Interim Coordinator; then he led us again in the formation of the Search Team, made up of a wonderful wise and dedicated group of PCA men and women from all over the country. He blessed us with a tremendously gifted consultant, Josh Eby, who is also a PCA Teaching Elder, to guide our search process. We were blessed to have the privilege of interviewing several qualified and excellent candidates for the position. And finally, God led us to the person he has called to this position for such a time as this, Irwyn Ince. May God be glorified as he continues the work of his kingdom through MNA.” MNA Search Committee Chairman Teaching Elder Thurman Williams.
