Jack Williamson, the first moderator of the Presbyterian Church in America, was called home to glory on August 8, 2009. He died from the effects of a recent stroke.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 10 at 10 a.m., at MagnoliaCemetery in Greenville, Ala.
He was a long time member and ruling elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Greenville.
Williamson possessed a sharp legal mind. He saw himself as a simple country lawyer, yet he argued cases in many courts, including five church property cases before the United States Supreme Court, winning all five cases in favor of the churches.
He is survived by his wife, Tere, two sons, a daughter and many grandchildren.
