At its June 11 session, the 43rd PCA General Assembly considered recommendations from the Overtures Committee regarding overtures that had been sent to the GA. In what was considered unusual, all six overtures were answered in the negative. The Overtures Committee also presented reasons for each of its recommendations.

Overture 1 asked that portions of BCO 15-1 and 15- 3 be revised to give presbyteries the additional option of appointing a judicial commission whose decision would be final.
Overtures 2 and 9 requested that a study committee be created to consider changing the language of the WCF 21-8 regarding Sabbath observance, particularly as it related to the recreational clause.
Overture 3 recommended that modifications of portions of BCO 56-5 dealing with the vows that parents take during the baptism of children to make the language appear more covenantal in nature.
Overture 7 asked that the language of BCO 35-1 be amended so that church officers who were charged with theological errors would be required to testify.
Overture 8 recommended that the language in the Book of Church Order (BCO) 13-2, 34-10, 24-7, and 24-9 be amended to deal with teaching elders, ruling elders, and deacons who were without call.
